Sift Renegade is an action-paced stick man game where you play as Kiro, a Yakuza member in his war with the Triads. The game carries a nice intuitive storyline in the tradition of classical action flicks. Your goal is to go through the army of Triad stick man members and make sure you exact Kiro’s revenge.
Sift Renegade is part of the lately-popular stick men games genre. It puts you in the role of a Yakuza member, whose brother has been killed by the Chinese Triads and is off to seek revenge. The game offers an involving storyline and simple gameplay, perfect for killing some time on a coffee break. The gameplay of the game is simple enough. You use the W, A, S, D keys to move and the mouse to hit with your sword as you kill waves of stick men along the levels. Sift renegade also offers some vehicle chase scenes and shooting mechanics like many other Stick men games. It is a little too hard at times, but it at least implements a save game system so you can continue your progress at all times.
The sound of the game is great and the music puts you right in the middle of the action. Even though the voice acting is weak, it still adds up to the effect of the storyline perfectly. Like the name Stick men games suggests, Sift Renegade’s characters are simply stick men and therefore not much of a graphics achievement. The environments and color scheme however put you perfectly in the Japanese atmosphere where the action takes place. The movement and shooting animations are a little bit clumsy at times, but the vehicle levels offer the realism and fluidity of movement, which allows you to into the action of the storyline and be engulfed by it. Even though it’s unnecessarily hard at times and gets repetitive, the game is fun if you like the simple action-packed storyline. One great thing about it is the unusually well-developed soundtrack. Sift Renegade offers a gameplay experience similar to all other Sift games and is a must-play for fans of the series, who would like to see how the story continues.
